String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam 2024
January 27th to February 3rd 2024 at Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and BIMHUIS
For eight days, from sunrise to sunset, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and BIMHUIS will welcome world-renowned musicians from around the globe. This edition of the world’s largest string quartet festival will entice, enchant and surprise. Established quartets and rising stars will perform classical repertoire and contemporary works in distinctive programmes. Lectures, concert introductions and masterclasses will enrich the festival experience.
The following quartets will perform during the fourth edition of the Biennale: Danish String Quartet, Belcea Quartet, Doric String Quartet, Jerusalem Quartet, Marmen Quartet, Ragazze Quartet, Leonkoro Quartett, Brentano String Quartet, Butter Quartet, Quatuor Kitgut, Australian String Quartet, Animato Kwartet, Calder Quartet, Simply Quartet, Solem Quartet, Matangi Quartet, Tetzlaff Quartett, Dudok Quartet Amsterdam, Signum Quartett, Isidore String Quartet, Quatuor Confluence, Belinfante Quartet en Karski Quartet.
The String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam 2024 will welcome several special guests, including musician and researcher Lou Bennett, violist Tabea Zimmermann, dancer Antoine Hunter, violinist Amandine Beyer, bass-baritone Davóne Tines and singer Ruben Hein. The lute specialists of the Lute Legends will also make an appearance and the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century will perform an evening concert.
