International FRANZ LISZT Competition Weimar–Bayreuth 2024

The 11th International FRANZ LISZT Competition Weimar-Bayreuth | Piano 2024 is aimed at pianists of all nationalities who were born after January 1, 1993. The organizer reserves the right to make exceptions to this in justified cases.

 

The competition consists of a pre-selection and four evaluation rounds. The first round of the competition will be held in Bayreuth, all subsequent rounds in Weimar. The competition is open to the public in all evaluation rounds.

 

 

 

The International FRANZ LISZT Competition Weimar–Bayreuth | Piano 2024 honors the legacy of Franz Liszt and promotes young talents who want to follow in his footsteps. The competition attracts pianists from all over the world and offers them the opportunity to present their repertoire and skills in front of an international jury and an enthusiastic audience.

 

Franz Liszt was one of the most outstanding piano virtuosos of his time. He was not only a technically brilliant pianist, but also an innovative composer who revolutionized the piano repertoire. Liszt was one of the first musicians to give solo concerts, laying the foundation for the modern piano concerto. His piano playing was characterized by passion, virtuosity and extraordinary expressiveness.

 

The name Franz Liszt stands for the highest pianistic excellence and musical devotion. Competitors from around the world are encouraged to interpret Liszt’s music in their program and to embody his technical brilliance and emotional expression. The competition maintains and develops the musical tradition of Franz Liszt and creates a platform for young pianists to develop their talent and advance their careers.
