SUMMARY:Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2025 will take place between Tuesday 1 – Sunday 6 April 2025 inclusive. Selected quartets will be expected to arrive in London no later than Sunday 30 March 2025 and leave on Monday 7 April 2025. \nThe Preliminary Round will be held at the Royal Academy of Music from Tuesday 1 – Friday 4 April\, the Semi-Finals and Final at Wigmore Hall on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 April respectively. Quartets not based in the UK may also be asked to perform once outside the Competition timetable\, either at a lunchtime concert or in a community setting\, as part of the events surrounding the Competition. \nThe full rules and requirements for entry for the Competition will be announced no later than the beginning of May 2024. \nThe closing date for applications is Thursday 17 October 2024. \nThe Members of the Competition Jury will include: \nJohn Gilhooly CBE Chairman\nPeter Jarůšek\nNina Lee\nHeime Müller\nMilena Pajaro-van de Stadt\nLesley Robertson\nMark Steinberg \nMembers of the Selection Jury will be announced in due course. \nSpecific enquiries should be directed to the General Manager\, Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition 2025 at quartetcompetition@wigmore-hall.org.uk \nAbout \nThe triennial Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition (formerly The London International String Quartet Competition) has been held under the auspices of Wigmore Hall since July 2010. Embracing the entire string quartet tradition\, it requires contestants to perform Classical\, Romantic and contemporary repertoire. \nNow even more widely recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious quartet competitions\, the event has benefited from its direct association with a leading venue for chamber music\, and offers the winning ensembles outstanding opportunities for career development. \n\nattracts string quartets of the highest calibre\, with members aged under 35\, who are keen to pursue performing careers at the highest level\nprovides valuable opportunities for feedback from jury members drawn from chamber musicians of global stature\nprovides opportunities for participants to meet their peers from other countries and to exchange ideas on performance\, technique and repertoire\nprovides a vital public platform from which young musicians can break into the world of professional performance at the highest level.\n\nThe first International String Quartet Competition was held in Portsmouth in 1979\, and was won by the then unknown Takács Quartet\, today recognised as one of the world’s leading string quartets and currently Wigmore Hall Associate Artists.

DESCRIPTION:The Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition 2024 celebrates the art of the song recital and honours the Lied’s place at the heart of the genre. \nThe Competition itself will take place between Saturday 07 – Wednesday 11 September 2024 inclusive. DESCRIPTION:The YCAT Auditions 2024 are held to identify young artists with exceptional potential. \n  \nThe YCAT 2024 applications open on Monday 8th January\, 2024. \n  \nAudition performances are measured against a standard of excellence and not against each other. The juries look not only for exceptional musical talent\, but also for artistic individuality and projection as a performer. No set number of artists are selected in any one year. \nSelected YCAT artists will also benefit from our exciting partnership with Concert Artists Guild in New York. This will bring unparalleled visibility\, opportunities and support for artists on both sides of the Atlantic. \nSelected artists will receive: \n\nManagement – 3-5 years of developmental and holistic management\nPerformance – Strategic diary of engagements secured worldwide (selected joint artists\, in collaboration with Concert Artists Guild)\nExposure – Regular marketing to 5\,000+ promoters and concert halls worldwide\nBranding – High-quality publicity materials and professional photo shoots\nDigital – Comprehensive social media and website consultation and support\nMedia – Live recordings of recitals at Wigmore Hall\n\nAs of 2024\, UK-based semi-finalists will also be considered for inclusion in a new directory of UK-based artists\, hosted on the YCAT website.  \nIf you’re considering applying to audition in 2024\, we strongly recommend you download our Audition Form preparation pack as a guide\, prior to commencing your online application. \nAll applications for the YCAT Auditions 2024 must be submitted via the Muvac portal. You will first need to create a free account and then select the correct application form to apply (see ‘Apply to Audition’).
