SUMMARY:Resiliart - Classical Music's New World 2020
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has greatly impacted the classical music sector.  Artists\, conservatoires\, concert venues and festivals have altered their operations and schedules significantly.  However\, this time of re-assessment has inspired new ways of keeping our artform alive.  Opportunities for greater international connection and resource sharing are expanding and alternative futures are being developed. \nUNESCO \n  \nThe Global Foundation for the Performing Arts (GFPA)\, is extremely concerned by the devastating impact of the current crisis on the livelihoods of cultural professionals and the cultural fabric of our societies.  During the lock-down period\, we have relied heavily on culture including dance and ballet performances for emotional support\, while the very creators of these artistic expressions have been left with little to no economic or social assistance. \nThis is why we have joined ResiliArt\, a global movement for arts professionals launched by UNESCO on World Art Day (April 15).  The ResiliArt movement raises public awareness of the challenges faced by artists in this time of crisis through virtual discussions with key industry professionals. \nWe invite you to join us for our third ResiliArt debate hosted in partnership with the UNESCO 2005 Convention.  We will welcome internationally recognised individuals in the classical music sector to this forum to articulate their predictions and to answer your questions.  We invite our friends in the media sector to follow the debate\, to consider the ramifications for our artform and reflect on our shared future. \n  \nResiliart – Classical Music’s New World 2020 \nArt is resilient.  Art makes us resilient. \n  \nSPEAKERS \n\nBruce BRUBAKER – Concert Pianist & Chair\, Piano Department – NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY\nOliver CONDY – Editor – BBC MUSIC MAGAZINE\nMary FINSTERER – Composer – UNIVERSITY OF TASMANIA\nTill JANCZUKOWICZ – Founder & CEO – IDAGIO\nBernard LANSKEY – Director – YONG SIEW TOH CONSERVATORY\nJasper PARROTT – Founder & Executive Chairman – HARRISONPARROTT\nMatías TARNOPOLSKY – President & CEO – PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA\nAlexei VASILIEV – President – ST PETERSBURG STATE CONSERVATORY\nLiguang WANG – Composer & President – CHINA CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC\nMarco SUAZO – Head Ambassador – UNITAR\, UNITED NATIONS\n\n  \nMODERATOR \n\nBenjamin WOODROFFE – President – GLOBAL FOUNDATION FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS\n\n  \nMonday 22 June 2020 \n08:00 New York | 13:00 London | 14:00 Paris | 20:00 Beijing | 22:00 Melbourne

SUMMARY:Resiliart - Ballet Education's Next Move 2020
DESCRIPTION:Educating and inspiring the next generation of ballet dancers continues in the face of the current COVID-19 crisis.  Ballet educators are finding new ways to transfer their knowledge to young dancers using technology and safe practice measures.  Opportunities for greater international connection and resource sharing are expanding and ballet teachers are adapting quickly to the “new normal”. \nThe headlines about musicians and cancelled concerts have dominated the news since the onset of COVID-19\, yet the plight of dancers has not received the same level of focus.  Against this backdrop\, our second debate will focus on the world of dance education: the panellists represent diverse geographies and institutions\, developing and rethinking teaching methods and initiatives to ensure a vibrant future for the sector. \nWe invite you to join us for our second ResiliArt debate hosted in partnership with the UNESCO 2005 Convention which welcomes globally renown dancers and educators around the world to take the virtual stage.  We invite our friends in the media sector to follow the debate\, to hear their stories\, and to magnify the voices of dancers\, so far largely missing from media coverage. \nIn times of crisis\, we need art more than ever.  People in self-isolation singing and dancing together from balconies showed us that culture and creativity give us the power to stand united.  Art is resilient.  Art makes us resilient.  The ResiliArt movement is committed to highlighting the impact of COVID 19 on the cultural sector. \n  \nResiliart – Ballet Education’s Next Move 2020 \nA Free Public Webinar curated by the Global Foundation for the Performing Arts in partnership with the Secretariat for the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005). \nSpeakers include: \n\nNina ANANIASHVILI – State Ballet of Georgia\nFrank ANDERSEN – Royal Danish Ballet\nKader BELARBI – Toulouse Capital Ballet\nNancy EUVERINK – Nederlands Dans Theater\nYing FENG – National Ballet of China\nGarry TRINDER – New Zealand School of Dance\nZhirui (Regina) ZOU – Beijing Dance Academy\n\nTuesday 16 June 2020 \n\n07:00 New York\n12:00 London\n13:00 Paris\n19:00 Beijing\n23:00 Auckland
