SUMMARY:ISPA Congress 2023
DESCRIPTION:The ISPA Congress 2023 will once again be held in New York in January. \nIn 2022\, we explored the “opportunity” of now. We came together to discuss issues ranging from equity to climate change and to envision a new future. One year later\, “urgency” is the watchword. As the performing arts sector reopens\, has there been tangible action on the pressing needs we identified? How do we meet the challenges of the present moment and uphold our commitments to change? At the ISPA Congress 2023\, we will explore what we have accomplished to date and\, perhaps more urgently\, what still needs to be done.

SUMMARY:YCA Auditions 2022
DESCRIPTION:The YCA Auditions 2022 will be held on 13 November 2022. \nEach year after a rigorous audition process\, Young Concert Artists chooses a new group of stellar young musicians to add to its roster with the promise of debuts in both New York City and Washington\, DC\, followed by at least three years of career management.  This includes providing performance opportunities\, promotional marketing services\, travel arrangements\, educational residency experience\, and extensive professional development. \nThe final auditions will take place on Sunday\, November 13\, 2022 \nYCA Auditions 2022 Deadline:  Monday\, August 1\, 2022 \nWinners of the YCA International Auditions and Composer-in-Residence Search represent the future of classical music\, and we invest in their careers so they may spend a lifetime bringing the gift of music to audiences around the world. Throughout their tenure\, emerging artists benefit from YCA’s connections with the industry’s managers\, concert presenters\, conductors of major orchestras\, and financial supporters\, as well as its long-standing reputation for discovering and furthering the careers of extraordinary young artists. \nYoung Concert Artists also discovers the most talented new composers through a selection process that takes place every two years. Over the course of a two-year residency\, YCA’s new Composer-in-Residence collaborates closely with artists on the YCA roster to fulfill two commissions\, bringing two new compositions to life in high-profile YCA debut concerts. The composer-in-residence also builds relationships with YCA alumni through a third commission\, and through a mentorship with a YCA alumnus/alumna composer. \nYoung Concert Artists has been dedicated to discovering and launching the careers of exceptional young musicians for 60 years. Our alumni\, active in every corner of the classical music world\, embody our success. They solo with the top orchestras\, perform on the most prestigious concert stages\, serve as artistic directors\, conductors\, and professors\, and are recognized as some of the most important ambassadors for this exquisite art form. With such celebrated names as Emanuel Ax\, Jean-Yves Thibaudet\, Dawn Upshaw\, and Pinchas Zukerman\, YCA alumni stand as a testament to the importance of our mission. \nFounded in 1961 by Susan Wadsworth\, Young Concert Artists has presented nearly 300 artist debut concerts\, has commissioned more than 30 compositions from YCA composers\, and has facilitated thousands of residencies through the Annaliese Soros Educational Residency Program.

SUMMARY:Climate and Culture 2021
DESCRIPTION:The Global Foundation for the Performing Arts has established a mutually beneficial partnership with UNITAR. Last year\, the two entities presented the annual conference: “The Sustainable Development of Classical Music – Securing the Future of Performance”. \nIn March this year\, GFPA launched a two-day\, two-session webinar “Leaving No One Behind: Validating ALL Voices of Culture” to discuss diversity and gender equalities in the culture sector. \nThis June\, GFPA is curating a conference of the same format\, “Building Back Better: Climate & Culture”\, to discuss topics directly related to Health and Well-being (SDG3)\, Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7)\, Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG8)\, Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG11) and Climate Action (SDG13). \nThe United Nations has declared 2021 as the “International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development”. The creative economy is expansive\, and its actors are diverse. Artists will be essential for “building back better” after the COVID-19 crisis with new forms of creativity\, presentation and models to advance our society. \n“Building Back Better: Climate & Culture” will raise questions and invite learned input. How are we adapting our presentations to reduce our impact? Can the performing arts translate the science of climate change to connect to a wider audience? Has the pandemic changed the way we will operate? Who is inspiring you in this arena? GFPA exists to recognise and advance the importance of artists and cultural practice. Direct dialogue between international cultural leaders and policy-makers is vital to effect positive change and we extend our gratitude to UNITAR for enabling this forum. \n  \n29 & 30 June\, 2021 \n\n09:30 – 11:30 New York\, EDT\n14:30 – 16:30 London\, BST\n15:30 – 17:30 Geneva\, CEST\n\nSpeakers (Alpha order by Surname):   \n\n\n\n\nDavid BAILE – CEO\, International Society for the Performing Arts\nAnna CERNEAZ – Director\, Spring Bay Mill\nInge CEUSTERMANS – General Director\, The Festival Academy\nTeemu KIRJONEN – General Manager\, Lahti Symphony Orchestra\nJonathan KRANE – Founder & CEO\, Trella Group\nPamela LOPEZ – Director of Programming and Audiences\, GAM Cultural Center\nStéphane NOËL – Artistic & Executive Director\, Materialise\nNicholas PAYNE – Director\, Opera Europa\nGwendolenn SHARP – Founder\, The Green Room\nFreeman Hui SHEN – Founder & CEO\, WM Motor Technology Group\nHenry SOUTHERN – Manager: Tours & Projects\, HarrisonParrott\nBen TWIST – Director\, Creative Carbon Scotland\nLu ZHANG – Founder & Managing Partner\, Fusion Fund\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Resiliart - Classical Music's New World 2020
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 has greatly impacted the classical music sector.  Artists\, conservatoires\, concert venues and festivals have altered their operations and schedules significantly.  However\, this time of re-assessment has inspired new ways of keeping our artform alive.  Opportunities for greater international connection and resource sharing are expanding and alternative futures are being developed. \nUNESCO \n  \nThe Global Foundation for the Performing Arts (GFPA)\, is extremely concerned by the devastating impact of the current crisis on the livelihoods of cultural professionals and the cultural fabric of our societies.  During the lock-down period\, we have relied heavily on culture including dance and ballet performances for emotional support\, while the very creators of these artistic expressions have been left with little to no economic or social assistance. \nThis is why we have joined ResiliArt\, a global movement for arts professionals launched by UNESCO on World Art Day (April 15).  The ResiliArt movement raises public awareness of the challenges faced by artists in this time of crisis through virtual discussions with key industry professionals. \nWe invite you to join us for our third ResiliArt debate hosted in partnership with the UNESCO 2005 Convention.  We will welcome internationally recognised individuals in the classical music sector to this forum to articulate their predictions and to answer your questions.  We invite our friends in the media sector to follow the debate\, to consider the ramifications for our artform and reflect on our shared future. \n  \nResiliart – Classical Music’s New World 2020 \nArt is resilient.  Art makes us resilient. \n  \nSPEAKERS \n\nBruce BRUBAKER – Concert Pianist & Chair\, Piano Department – NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY\nOliver CONDY – Editor – BBC MUSIC MAGAZINE\nMary FINSTERER – Composer – UNIVERSITY OF TASMANIA\nTill JANCZUKOWICZ – Founder & CEO – IDAGIO\nBernard LANSKEY – Director – YONG SIEW TOH CONSERVATORY\nJasper PARROTT – Founder & Executive Chairman – HARRISONPARROTT\nMatías TARNOPOLSKY – President & CEO – PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA\nAlexei VASILIEV – President – ST PETERSBURG STATE CONSERVATORY\nLiguang WANG – Composer & President – CHINA CONSERVATORY OF MUSIC\nMarco SUAZO – Head Ambassador – UNITAR\, UNITED NATIONS\n\n  \nMODERATOR \n\nBenjamin WOODROFFE – President – GLOBAL FOUNDATION FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS\n\n  \nMonday 22 June 2020 \n08:00 New York | 13:00 London | 14:00 Paris | 20:00 Beijing | 22:00 Melbourne

SUMMARY:Resiliart - Ballet Education's Next Move 2020
DESCRIPTION:Educating and inspiring the next generation of ballet dancers continues in the face of the current COVID-19 crisis.  Ballet educators are finding new ways to transfer their knowledge to young dancers using technology and safe practice measures.  Opportunities for greater international connection and resource sharing are expanding and ballet teachers are adapting quickly to the “new normal”. \nThe headlines about musicians and cancelled concerts have dominated the news since the onset of COVID-19\, yet the plight of dancers has not received the same level of focus.  Against this backdrop\, our second debate will focus on the world of dance education: the panellists represent diverse geographies and institutions\, developing and rethinking teaching methods and initiatives to ensure a vibrant future for the sector. \nWe invite you to join us for our second ResiliArt debate hosted in partnership with the UNESCO 2005 Convention which welcomes globally renown dancers and educators around the world to take the virtual stage.  We invite our friends in the media sector to follow the debate\, to hear their stories\, and to magnify the voices of dancers\, so far largely missing from media coverage. \nIn times of crisis\, we need art more than ever.  People in self-isolation singing and dancing together from balconies showed us that culture and creativity give us the power to stand united.  Art is resilient.  Art makes us resilient.  The ResiliArt movement is committed to highlighting the impact of COVID 19 on the cultural sector. \n  \nResiliart – Ballet Education’s Next Move 2020 \nA Free Public Webinar curated by the Global Foundation for the Performing Arts in partnership with the Secretariat for the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (2005). \nSpeakers include: \n\nNina ANANIASHVILI – State Ballet of Georgia\nFrank ANDERSEN – Royal Danish Ballet\nKader BELARBI – Toulouse Capital Ballet\nNancy EUVERINK – Nederlands Dans Theater\nYing FENG – National Ballet of China\nGarry TRINDER – New Zealand School of Dance\nZhirui (Regina) ZOU – Beijing Dance Academy\n\nTuesday 16 June 2020 \n\n07:00 New York\n12:00 London\n13:00 Paris\n19:00 Beijing\n23:00 Auckland
