SUMMARY:Adam Chamber Music Festival 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Adam Chamber Music Festival 2024 will be held in Nelson\, New Zealand from 1 to 10 February. \n  \nThe Adam Chamber Music Festival began in 1992 with an enthusiastic group of professional musical friends performing five concerts over five days in Nelson. Their inspiration was to utilise the intimate\, smaller venues of the region to recapture the essence of chamber music performance. Performed in the height of summer\, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere offered a satisfying alternative to the more usual formal concert setting. \nThe Nelson Music Festival Trust was founded to run the 1994 Festival\, secure its future\, and administer its affairs. In 1995 the Festival became a biennial event\, with the 2021 Festival being the 16th Adam Chamber Music Festival. \n  \n  \nNestled at the top of New Zealand’s South Island\, Nelson is a region renowned for its stunning natural beauty\, boutique vineyards\, and warm embrace of the arts. Alongside the world-class chamber music performances\, visitors have the opportunity to explore the natural beauty of the national parks and indulge in the region’s delectable food and wine. \nEvery two years\, our Co-Artistic Directors\, Gillian Ansell and Helene Pohl of New Zealand String Quartet\, invite a selection of international and national musicians to gather for ten days of shared excellence in performance and collaboration\, resulting in a programme ranging from classical favourites to new commissions\, as well as artist talks and masterclasses. The Festival is housed in one of the country’s finest chamber music venues\, the Nelson Centre of Musical Arts\, renowned for its acoustic. \nOur next festival is on 1st – 10th February 2024. Join our enthusiastic audience\, and experience a full immersion into a celebration of premier international and New Zealand musicians. \nThe 2024 festival will feature international guests Takács Quartet (Hungary/USA)\, clarinetist James Campbell (Canada/USA)\, contrabassist Hiroshi Ikematsu (Japan)\, violin/violist Sergey Malov (Russia/Hungary) pianists Dénes Várjon and Izabella Simon (Hungary) alongside local artists New Zealand String Quartet\, Bob Bickerton\, Justin Bird\, Simeon Broom\, Justin DeHart\, Gabriela Glapska\, Rachael Griffith-Hughes\, Jian Liu\, Alexander McFarlane\, Arna Morton\, Helen Webby\, Jenny Wollerman\, and Adam Troubadour Quartet. \nProgramme and Festival Passes available from the 1st September 2023. Individual concert tickets on sale Monday 2nd October 2023.
