DESCRIPTION:World Orchestra Week 2024\nA Celebration of International Youth Orchestras\n\n\n\nDiscover extraordinary youth orchestras from around the globe during Carnegie Hall’s World Orchestra Week 2024 (WOW!)—a first-of-its-kind celebration inspired by Carnegie Hall’s own acclaimed national youth ensembles. Over the course of one history-making week\, incredible young musicians from five continents perform on Carnegie Hall’s biggest stage alongside some of today’s most internationally renowned conductors and soloists. \nThe week of performances kicks off with NYO2—Carnegie Hall’s national youth orchestra for younger teens (ages 14–17)—performing under the baton of Teddy Abrams with soloists Demarre McGill\, Titus Underwood\, Anthony McGill\, and Andrew Brady. Carnegie Hall’s youth orchestra for older teens (ages 16–19)—the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA)—performs with esteemed conductor Marin Alsop and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. The festival’s international lineup includes the National Children’s Symphony of Venezuela led by Gustavo Dudamel; Africa United Youth Orchestra; Beijing Youth Symphony Orchestra led by Lü Jia; European Union Youth Orchestra led by Iván Fischer with pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason; and Afghan Youth Orchestra led by Tiago Moreira da Silva.

According to its Charter\, Article 1.4\, the purpose of the United Nations is to be “a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations.” \nThe United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) New York Office\, the Global Foundation for the Performing Arts (GFPA)\, Carnegie Hall and the sponsoring Member States of Costa Rica\, Ecuador\, the Principality of Monaco\, the Sultanate of Oman\, and the Republic of Singapore as well as the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights are pleased to welcome you to a concert \, which is a heartwarming global project that seeks to create a powerful connection between people and the United Nations mission by tapping into the unifying force of music. \nUNITAR\, GFPA\, and Carnegie Hall are dedicated to enhancing the mutually beneficial relationship between the arts and sustainable development capacity building at the United Nations. Mr. Abdulla Shahid and the occasion of the 76th General Assembly of the United Nations. \n  \nAbout the Artist \nByron Wei-Xin Zhou \nPraised by legendary American pianist Russell Sherman\, who wrote “With unflappable poise Byron performed both the most difficult passages and the poetic interludes in a completely convincing way that embraced the core of the music and the composer”\, pianist Byron Wei-Xin Zhou is a conspicuously gifted young musical talent with the virtuosic approach of the highest caliber and suggesting the possibility and promise of an international career on a notable level. \n  \nThe Carnegie Hall safety protocols regarding COVID-19 are available via the following link.
