SUMMARY:Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2024 will take place from 26 January through to 3 February\, 2024. \nFrom its beginnings in 2001\, the Festival of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad has become a prominent winter rendezvous for classical music enthusiasts. Every year for nine days\, this snowy shrine unites young talents\, orchestras\, world renowned artists\, and music lovers from Switzerland and abroad in a vibrant celebration of the most beautiful pages of classical music. \nThe festival is built on three pillars: three concert cycles in three exceptional venues. Afternoon concerts in the Gstaad Chapel feature promising young talent in a series of concerts that all focus on the same instrument. Evening concerts in Rougemont and Saanen enchant their audience with performances by most distinguished soloists and orchestras. \nA veritable winter crossroads\, the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad organize after concert dinners in the Gstaad Palace for a rare gathering of artists\, music-loving members of the public\, and partners of the festival. \nIn 2002\, the festival and a partner first awarded the Thierry Scherz Prize to one of the young candidates to enable them to record their first CD with the Claves Records label. \nThe André Hoffmann Prize was first awarded in 2013 to reward the best rendition of a piece created by the current composer in residence. \n  \n\nSince its creation in 2001\, the festival has been dedicated to spotting and promoting the next generations of performers. Each edition focuses on a different instrument and features a selection of eight young artists\, who will perform every day in the Gstaad Chapel\, under the auspices of a mentor. \nMentors are typically prominent educators and musicians of international stature themselves. They will be in residence throughout the week to meet and work with the young musicians in a relaxed and informal setting. Mentors also chair the committee that awards the “Thierry Scherz Prize”.

SUMMARY:Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2023
DESCRIPTION:The Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2023 will take place under the Artistic Direction of Renaud Capuçon. \nFrom 27 January to 4 February 2023\, music-lovers will gather in the chapel of Gstaad and the churches of Saanen and Rougemont. In the spirit of the Festival’s aims\, which it has promoted since its inception in 2001\, audiences at the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad will be able to hear outstanding young talent as well as internationally renowned virtuosos over the course of nine days. \nRenaud Capuçon will be showcasing Mozart in three of the Festival’s flagship concerts scheduled in the church of Saanen\, including the opening and closing concerts\, with programmes including a Violin Concerto\, two Piano Quartets\, a Duo for violin and viola and the famous Overture to Don Giovanni. The Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad are delighted\, in their 23rd year\, to welcome Alexandre Kantorow\, Lucie Horsch\, Olga Paschenko\, David Fray\, Peter Mattei\, Gérard Caussé\, Nora Gubisch\, Alain Altinoglu\, the Camerata Salzburg\, the International Menuhin Music Academy with Anastasia Kobekina and many more. For the first time\, in the church of Rougemont\, a concert for trumpet and organ will be given by David Guerrier and Kit Armstrong. Steven Isserlis will bring the festival to a close with a concert featuring the Orchestre Consuelo conducted by Victor Julien-Laferrière. We are happy to present\, once again\, the traditional musical story for children in a morning concert at the church of Saanen with Claire-Marue Le Guay and Élodie Fondacci. \n\n\n\nThe cello\, and the promotion of young talent\, will be a particular focus for the duration of the Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2023\, with recitals every afternoon in the chapel of Gstaad\, where the young cellists\, all in contention for the Prix Thierry Scherz and the Prix André Hoffmann\, look forward to welcoming audiences for their concerts\, which will take place at 4pm. What’s more\, the festival’s closing concert in the church of Saanen will feature British cellist Steven Isserlis – who will also take on the role of mentor to the young cellists\, with Haydn’s Concerto no.2 in D major. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRenaud Capuçon has once again devised his programme with the aim of building bridges between new generations and established musicians of renown. We are pleased to welcome Mexican composer Diana Syrse as our composer in residence for the duration of the festival. Her work for cello and piano Black Fire\, written for the Festival\, will receive its world premiere(s!) every afternoon at 4pm by the young musicians specially invited to the festival.
