DESCRIPTION:The Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music announces the Bartók World Competition 2023 for Violin as the next contest in the series in Budapest. \n  \nDATE \n2–10 September 2023 \n  \nVENUE \nLiszt Ferenc Academy of Music\, Budapest \n  \nAPPLICANTS \nThe Bartók World Competition 2023 for Violin is open to violinists from all nationalities aged max. 30 years (born on or after 2 September 1993) \n  \nROUNDS \nThe competition consists of a pre-selection round arranged by video\, and three live competition rounds (a preliminary\, a semi-final and a final) held at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. About thirty candidates will enter the Preliminary\, twelve will make it to the Semi-final and six get into the Final. \nThe competition ends with a Gala Concert including the Award Ceremony. \nThe entire live competition is open to the public. The Final will be streamed live and broadcast on radio. Applicants shall give their consent to these recordings and broadcasts by applying for the competition. \nCompetitors admitted to the Final are provided with hotel accommodation. \n  \nJURY \nKristóf Baráti – Hungary \nRoland Daugareil – France \nGyula Fekete – Hungary \nPéter Halász – Hungary \nAndrás Keller – Hungary \nDaniel Phillips – USA \nStephan Picard – Germany \nMaxim Rysanov – Ukraine-UK \nYayoi Toda – Japan \n  \nPRIZES \n1st prize             22 000 EUR \n2nd prize            14 000 EUR \n3rd prize              8 000 EUR \nPrizes are gross amounts. \nSpecial prizes such as concert and recording opportunities will also be offered. \n  \nAPPLICATION \nPersonal data and full competition repertoire is to be specified on the online application form found on the webpage (bartokworldcompetition.hu). \nAll applicants have to upload: \n·       a professional photo (headshot\, portrait format\, min. 1MB\, 300 dpi\, JPG) \n·       a bio (1000-2000 characters) about professional studies and achievements\, including competitions\, masterclasses and performances over the last three years (doc file) \n·       a video recording of the required pieces to be seen on the webpage under Repertoire – Qualifying \nOnly high quality and recent video recordings (taken on or after 1 January 2023) will be accepted. Audio recordings are not accepted. The recording should show the applicant and his/her (piano) accompanist. Each piece should be recorded in a single take (no editing permitted).
