SUMMARY:IMS Prussia Cove 2023
DESCRIPTION:IMS Prussia Cove 2023 nurtures and inspires world-class musicians. We bring emerging artists and acclaimed performers from across the world to make music together in a remote part of Cornwall\, UK. Founded in 1972\, by the Hungarian violinist Sándor Végh\, we are one of classical music’s most celebrated organisations\, and continue to flourish under the Artistic Direction of renowned cellist Steven Isserlis. \nThe Masterclasses are held for three weeks each spring and have been running since 1972\, when Sándor Végh first invited his students to Cornwall to study with him. \nMasterclass participants are students and recent graduates of music colleges and conservatoires from across the world\, selected via a competitive application process. \nSteven Isserlis\, Artistic Director\, is in residence every year for one of the 10-day sessions. He is joined regularly by many eminent international colleagues including Thomas Adès\, András Keller\, Ralph Kirshbaum\, Ferenc Rados\, Thomas Riebl\, Hariolf Schlichtig\, Gerhard Schulz and Lars Anders Tomter. Sir András Schiff and György Kurtág are among those who have also attended on many occasions to give classes. \nParticipants include solo string players and pianists as well as chamber groups. During the seminar\, participants have one-to-one lessons and can also observe the classes of their peers. They also form new collaborations\, exploring our extensive music library and playing chamber music together late into the night. A series of public concerts offer the opportunity to showcase their work. \nThe Masterclasses play a vital role in fostering new generations of the world’s most talented musicians\, providing musical training of an unparalleled standard as they make the transition from students to professionals. For artists entering a competitive\, commercial profession\, IMS Prussia Cove offers a supportive environment which is instead dedicated to musical discovery\, giving young musicians the opportunity to explore a wide range of repertoire\, and to make important professional connections within an international community of musicians.
