SUMMARY:World Orchestra Week 2024
DESCRIPTION:World Orchestra Week 2024\nA Celebration of International Youth Orchestras\n\n\n\nDiscover extraordinary youth orchestras from around the globe during Carnegie Hall’s World Orchestra Week 2024 (WOW!)—a first-of-its-kind celebration inspired by Carnegie Hall’s own acclaimed national youth ensembles. Over the course of one history-making week\, incredible young musicians from five continents perform on Carnegie Hall’s biggest stage alongside some of today’s most internationally renowned conductors and soloists. \nThe week of performances kicks off with NYO2—Carnegie Hall’s national youth orchestra for younger teens (ages 14–17)—performing under the baton of Teddy Abrams with soloists Demarre McGill\, Titus Underwood\, Anthony McGill\, and Andrew Brady. Carnegie Hall’s youth orchestra for older teens (ages 16–19)—the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA)—performs with esteemed conductor Marin Alsop and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. The festival’s international lineup includes the National Children’s Symphony of Venezuela led by Gustavo Dudamel; Africa United Youth Orchestra; Beijing Youth Symphony Orchestra led by Lü Jia; European Union Youth Orchestra led by Iván Fischer with pianist Isata Kanneh-Mason; and Afghan Youth Orchestra led by Tiago Moreira da Silva.
