La Maestra Competition 2022
On Monday March 8th 2021, Paris Mozart Orchestra and Philharmonie de Paris celebrate International Women’s Day with the opening of applications for the next La Maestra Competition in 2022!
Women conductors from all over the world, with no age limit, have until September 3rd 2021 to apply online and follow the path of Rebecca Tong, Stephanie Childress and Lina Gonzalez-Granados, winners of the inaugural La Maestra Competition.
Aimed at gifted professionals, the International Competition for Women Conductors showcases candidates of the highest calibre, with no age limit, following a carefully managed selection process. The competition awards several financial prizes, professional engagements, as well as career support as part of La Maestra Academy.
The repertoire for each stage of the competition will include masterworks from the 18th to the 20th century, as well as new commissions by contemporary composers. Our aim is to highlight each candidate’s artistic individuality.
Co-directed by Claire Gibault, artistic and music director of the Paris Mozart Orchestra, and Laurent Bayle, general manager of the Philharmonie de Paris, the next La Maestra Competition will take place between 3-6 March 2022.
This competition is open to professional women conductors from all over the world, with no age limit.
The Final Round of the Competition will include the world premiere of a new work by Graciane Finzi, specially commissioned for La Maestra 2022. Each of the three finalists will perform this new piece, together with pieces chosen from a list of set works.
